Dr. Julie Gunther is a dual‑Board Certified Family Physician who founded sparkMD in 2014 and currently serves as President of the Direct Primary Care (DPC) Alliance. She earned her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle and completed her residency at Ball Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency. Dr. Gunther is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and has been featured in Forbes, NPR, Bloomberg News, Medical Economics, and other national outlets. Her DPC philosophy emphasizes long‑term patient relationships, transparent pricing, and comprehensive, same‑day care that includes urgent visits, preventive services, and an in‑house pharmacy.

At sparkMD, Dr. Gunther built a team of nurses, a nurse practitioner, a physician assistant, and an aesthetician to deliver urgent care, wellness, and aesthetic services under a flat monthly fee. She champions the idea that physicians should have the time and space to provide high‑quality, compassionate care without the constraints of traditional insurance‑driven models.
