How we source and check listings
The numbers, today
- 2,385 practices listed (counted 1 Nov 2026).
- Median time since a practice's details were last confirmed: 1 days.
- Share of listed practices confirmed in the last 90 days: 0%.
Sources
- The practice's own website, read by our crawler (we respect robots.txt).
- The practice itself, when its owner confirms or edits a listing.
- The NPI registry (NPPES) for physician identity and status.
- State licensing boards where they publish free files.
- Public correction reports from patients and practices.
We do not copy other directories. A fact a directory or a map listing tells us is a lead to check, never a value we publish.
What each check does
- practice-refresh: re-reads each practice's website for price, enrolment fee and whether it is accepting patients, and re-confirms values that have not changed.
- practice-health: checks weekly that each website is still online.
- closure checks: a practice is marked closed only after two independent signals and a person's review.
- nppes-diff: compares physicians with the NPI registry monthly.
- practice-discovery: finds practices we do not list yet; each is checked against its own site before it appears.
Automatic updates are limited to small, well-evidenced changes. Anything larger, or anything about closing a practice, waits for a person to review the evidence.
Freshness limits
A fact older than its limit is shown as "last confirmed [date], may be out of date". Details we have not yet checked say "not yet verified".
- Prices and enrolment fee: 180 days
- Accepting new patients: 90 days
- Open or closed: 30 days
- Physicians: 180 days
- Everything else: 365 days
Report a correction
Every practice page has a "Report a correction" form. We email you at once to say we have it, then fix the listing or explain why we have not, within two business days. If the practice itself tells us, its answer wins by default. Please do not send health information.
