Dr. Catherine Cantway, an experienced geriatrician who is also board‑certified in family medicine, returned to her hometown of Steamboat Springs to open the region’s first Direct Primary Care practice at Bear Valley Medical. She earned her medical degree at the University of Washington School of Medicine, completed family medicine training in Grand Junction, Colorado, and finished a geriatric fellowship at the University of Utah. Dr. Cantway’s approach centers on caring for the whole person, emphasizing preventive health, transparent pricing, and long, unhurried visits that foster a strong doctor‑patient relationship.

In her DPC model, patients pay a monthly membership fee (starting at $79) for unlimited office visits, basic labs, and the option to add imaging and procedures. She believes this model reduces administrative burden, allows more time for direct patient care, and helps keep healthcare affordable while maintaining high‑quality, personalized care.
