Dr. Sylvia Rivera was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Florida, and received her M.D. from New York University School of Medicine. She completed an Internal Medicine residency at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, returning to Santa Barbara in 2016 to serve the local community.
