RJ Heck
Family Medicine
About
Dr. Richard J. Heck, MD, co‑founder of St. Luke’s Family Practice, has practiced in Modesto since 1994. He earned his MD from the University of Arizona in 1991 and completed a family practice residency in Modesto (1991‑94). Board‑certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians, he combines traditional family medicine with a Direct Primary Care model that emphasizes personal relationships, same‑day access, and holistic patient education.
Dr. Heck’s DPC philosophy centers on knowing each patient beyond the chart, providing 24‑hour phone access, and focusing on preventive care, wound healing, and patient education. He believes in a partnership model where patients receive individualized attention without the constraints of insurance bureaucracy.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Heck volunteers with Liga International on mission trips to Mexico, enjoys exercise, and is active in his community and church.
