About

I was born in Texas, but raised since infancy in Nebraska. My first real experience with a physician was our family doctor who saw everyone from me to my grandmother, many times in our home when needed. This was my model for wanting to be a doctor, someone who was just there when needed. A stethoscope and a prescription pad. I studied anthropology at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities because I was so interested in "people", even though it wasn't the typical premed route of biology. After college, I moved to Chicago for medical school and started a family. It was in medical school I decided that taking care of kids was the best route for me. They don't want to be sick, they don't want to take medicine if they don't have to, and they don't want to go to the doctor if they don't have to. I missed life in Minnesota and moved back for residency at the U and have been back ever since. I have a passion for taking care of patients. I like the connection with families that evolves over time as their children grow. It's been a gift to be there when a baby is born and see them through to the day they go to college. I want to put my over 20 years of experience to work being there for families when they need me. Being accessible and giving them the time they need.
