Maria Rutmann

Dr. Maria Rutmann was born in Venezuela and completed her medical education at the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) in 2011. She then finished a pediatric residency at Miami Children's Hospital (now Nicklaus Children’s Hospital) in 2014. Dr. Rutmann is the founder of Lionheart Direct Primary Care in northern Maine, where she provides pediatric care through a Direct Primary Care model that emphasizes long‑term relationships, personalized preventive care, and same‑day access for families.

At Lionheart DPC, Dr. Rutmann focuses on building trust and community, offering a patient‑centered approach that removes insurance barriers and allows her to spend more time with each child. She is known for her compassion, responsiveness—including late‑night house calls—and commitment to supporting the health and well‑being of the Presque Isle community.
