KAREN SHULMAN
Family Medicine
About
Dr. Karen Shulman, MD, was born in upstate New York and raised in Southern Ontario. She earned a B.Sc. in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo before attending Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry in London, Ontario, where she received her MD in 1993. After completing a Family Medicine residency in London, she began practicing in the United States, spending three years in Western Massachusetts before moving to Wisconsin. Dr. Shulman is passionate about Direct Primary Care because it allows her to spend ample time with each patient, eliminate insurance‑driven constraints, and focus on preventive health and personalized treatment plans.
For more than two decades Dr. Shulman served the rural community of Stratford, Wisconsin, and later took on the role of Medical Director of Adult Primary Care for the Marshfield Clinic Health System. She brings that same dedication to Advocate MD‑West Clinic, where she aims to build long‑term doctor‑patient relationships, provide same‑day appointments, and ensure continuity of care without the barriers of traditional fee‑for‑service models.
