Joel Schumacher

Dr. Joel Schumacher, MD is a family medicine physician in Plymouth, Indiana, with over 30 years of experience. He earned his B.S. in Biology from Hillsdale College in 1988 and received his M.D. from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1992. After completing his residency in Family Medicine at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis, he began practicing in Plymouth in 1995, initially joining Dr. Kent Guild to establish Plymouth Family and Internal Medicine.

In 2017 Dr. Schumacher founded Schumacher Family Medicine to bring Direct Primary Care (DPC) to Marshall County. He is passionate about restoring the traditional doctor‑patient relationship, reducing out‑of‑pocket costs, and providing personalized, accessible care through membership‑based services. His DPC model emphasizes same‑day appointments, direct communication via phone, email, and text, and a focus on preventive health and chronic disease management.
