About

Dr. J.D. Steed completed his medical school at Wake Forest University in 1999 and his Family Medicine residency at Florida Hospital in Orlando (now Advent Health) in 2002. After serving as a family medicine physician and clinic chief at Moody Air Force Base from 2002‑2006, he moved to the Ocala area, practicing inpatient and outpatient medicine with the Family Doctors of Belleview and later becoming Medical Director of the Villages Health location. In 2017 he founded Walden Direct Primary Care to provide affordable, accessible, and patient‑centered primary care. He and his wife Melissa run the practice together, and he emphasizes a DPC philosophy of longer appointments, direct communication, and a focus on preventive health.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Steed is married with four children, enjoys coaching basketball, traveling, and doing service projects for his community. He believes that a personal, relationship‑based approach is essential for helping patients achieve their fullest health potential.
