About

Dr. James Hawkes was born in Puerto Rico and grew up traveling with his family across Central and South America, which sparked his lifelong commitment to service and patient‑centered care. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in 2004 and received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, completing clinical rotations in New York City and San Juan, PR in 2009. He completed an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Utah (2009‑2012) and is board‑certified in Internal Medicine (2012) and Obesity Medicine (2016). Dr. Hawkes believes that physicians should act as entrepreneurs to create transparent, affordable primary care, and he embraces the Direct Primary Care model to eliminate surprise billing and focus on strong patient‑physician relationships.

From 2012 to 2017 Dr. Hawkes practiced with large hospital groups in Utah, Idaho, and Nevada before launching his own DPC clinic in Henderson, NV in 2016. The clinic later moved to Southwest Las Vegas, where he now sees patients one week per month, while also spending three weeks per month at his Utah location. He offers virtual consultations, transparent pricing, and rapid follow‑up on test results, emphasizing both health outcomes and financial stewardship for his patients.
