About
Dr. Eddy Furniss is board certified in family medicine. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and completed his residency training at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, where he served as chief resident. Born and raised in Nacogdoches, Dr. Furniss returned home to start his practice alongside his father, Ed Furniss. His practice grew with the acquisition of a long‑operating family medicine office and the founding of Nacogdoches Health Partners, where he leads a team focused on Direct Primary Care and patient‑centered care. Dr. Furniss is also a co‑founder of the East Texas Regional Accountable Care Collaborative, a large ACO for independent primary care physicians, and his practice consistently ranks among the top performers on quality measures. He was a highly recruited baseball player at LSU, earning the 1998 Dick Howser Trophy and induction into multiple sports halls of fame, and he brings that teamwork and dedication to his medical practice.
