About
Dr. Cory Annis is the founder and owner of Unorthodoc, a Direct Primary Care practice in Carrboro, North Carolina. After more than 25 years in the traditional insurance‑driven primary care system, she launched Unorthodoc in 2015 to create an affordable, relationship‑focused model that removes the constraints of third‑party payers. She believes medicine is first and foremost a human endeavor, emphasizing long, unhurried visits and a deep, personal connection with each patient.
Dr. Annis is double‑boarded in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and brings over 30 years of clinical experience to her practice. She graduated from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University in 1992 and completed both her internship and residency in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics at Duke University Hospital. A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the American College of Physicians, she is also active in the Direct Primary Care Alliance. Outside of medicine she enjoys hiking, dancing, and spending time with her two spaniels.
