BRETT SMITH

Dr. Brett Smith, DO, is an osteopathic physician trained in Internal Medicine, Rheumatology, exercise science and regenerative medicine. He earned his D.O. from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010 and completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine followed by a rheumatology fellowship at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

At Tennessee Direct Rheumatology, Dr. Smith embraces the Direct Primary Care model, offering patients extended office visits, same‑day access via phone, text, and email, and a health‑span focused approach that integrates cardiovascular screening, nutrition, body‑composition analysis, VO2‑max testing and personalized strength‑training programs. As an ISSA‑certified personal trainer and bodybuilding specialist, he combines medical expertise with fitness science to improve patients’ quality of life.

He is active in the professional community, serving as President and Board Director of the Tennessee Rheumatology Society and as a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology, and participates in local church and community health initiatives.
