About
Dr. Abigail Hemken has been practicing family medicine for over 13 years. She earned a biochemistry degree from Azusa Pacific University before completing her M.D. and Family Practice residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Her training includes elective rotations in Mexico, Kenya, and Zambia, as well as volunteer work in Pakistan, Egypt, and Iraq, giving her a broad perspective on global health. After residency she joined a physician‑owned practice in Carroll, Iowa, later moving to the Iowa Falls location. In February 2022 she founded Hemken Family Medicine, a Direct Primary Care practice that emphasizes personalized, membership‑based care without insurance constraints, allowing her to spend ample time listening to patients and developing collaborative treatment plans.
