Our Mission
DPC Directory exists to map the vast ecosystem of what people call the "gig economy" or "sharing economy" - but it goes way beyond those labels. We're here to document all the different ways people can make money outside traditional employment.
Why We Started This
In the post-Zoom era, there's an increasing anxiety about how people can afford their lives. Life is expensive, and everyone is turning to side gigs and side hustles.
The pandemic gave us a taste of what life was like when we lived at home, worked remotely, and had to figure things out away from the office. There's a huge aspirational component to determining your own life and your own calendar - and that's largely paved through the path of side hustles and side gigs.
We wanted to see all the different ways people can make money. It's not just about uploading a resume to LinkedIn and hoping for the best with a nine-to-five job. This is about mapping out all the different ways to earn an income on your own terms.
Our Story
DPC Directory was born from personal experience navigating the world of alternative income streams. Starting with childhood entrepreneurship ventures like lemonade stands and evolving through various online and offline opportunities, we've experienced firsthand the challenges of discovering legitimate side gig opportunities.
From trading and selling in marketplaces to exploring the creator economy, we've seen how scattered and confusing the landscape can be for people looking to diversify their income streams.
That's why we built DPC Directory - to create a comprehensive, organized resource that makes discovering and starting side gigs easier for everyone.
