Family Medicine, Functional Medicine

About

Safia Lyon, APRN, is a born-and-raised Wichitan. She graduated from Wichita State University (WSU) in 2007 with her BSN. She began her nursing career in the St. Joseph ER, where she built her nursing foundation managing acute and urgent patient needs. She later worked in cosmetic care at a local clinic, where she was introduced to functional medicine by Dr. Davis. Inspired by the root‑cause approach, she pursued a Master’s degree through Walden University (online) in 2015 and joined Prairie Health & Wellness as a phlebotomist, eventually becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner. She completed the Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice (AFMCP) training with the Institute for Functional Medicine in 2017 and now integrates functional and direct primary care principles to provide personalized, preventive care.

In her DPC practice, Safia emphasizes long‑form patient relationships, comprehensive health assessments, and education on lifestyle‑based interventions. She combines conventional family medicine with functional medicine tools to address chronic conditions, focusing on root causes, patient empowerment, and continuity of care.
