Family Medicine

About

Dr. Phi Lam is a board‑certified family physician and the founder of CountyMed DPC, a Direct Primary Care practice in Yorktown, Virginia. He was born in Ithaca, NY to Vietnamese immigrant parents; his father earned a PhD from Cornell University. Raised in Northern California, Dr. Lam earned a B.S. in Biochemistry (minor in Economics) from UC San Diego before attending the Medical College of Virginia, where he graduated in 2004. After medical school he worked in the Virology department at the Scripps Research Institute and then completed his family medicine residency as chief resident at UC Davis in Sacramento.

Motivated by a desire to restore the patient‑doctor relationship, Dr. Lam opened CountyMed DPC to provide personalized, relationship‑focused care for a limited membership. He emphasizes direct communication, same‑day appointments, and the use of telemedicine to meet individual patient needs, believing that caring for fewer patients allows for higher quality, preventive, and chronic disease management. Dr. Lam remains active in his community, supporting local youth sports and collaborating with his wife, an anesthesiologist, to serve families in York County.
