Dr. Paul Kartchner, a native of Southern Arizona, attended the University of Arizona for both his undergraduate degree and his Doctor of Medicine, graduating in 2004. He completed a residency in Family Medicine at St. Louis University and later earned a Master of Public Health in Global Health from Johns Hopkins University in 2013. Following medical school, Dr. Kartchner served ten years on active duty in the United States Air Force, participating in numerous overseas assignments, including humanitarian missions to the Amazon Basin and deployments to Iraq and the Horn of Africa. He later served as a flight surgeon in the Arizona Air National Guard, providing medical support for F‑16 and MQ‑9 aircrew before retiring after 23 years of service.

In 2014, Dr. Kartchner founded The Family Doctor PLLC, a Direct Primary Care practice focused on providing personalized, relationship‑based care. He transitioned to a part‑time role in 2026 to devote more time to overseas medical missions, having practiced medicine in fifteen countries across five continents. Fluent in Spanish, he emphasizes preventive health, patient education, and a holistic approach to wellness within the DPC model.
