About
Dr. Michael Garrett received his M.D. from Indiana University in 1997 and completed his Family Medicine Residency at Ball Hospital in Muncie, Indiana in 2000. After years of full‑time ER work, he founded Direct MD Austin in 2014. He is board certified in Family Medicine and completed functional‑medicine training with the Kresser Institute’s Adapt Practitioner program in November 2021. Passionate about human health, Dr. Garrett is committed to continuous learning and applying new insights to optimize health outcomes for his patients.
Residing in Austin with his wife Jill, their two children Max and Kate, and various animals, Dr. Garrett enjoys literature, music, art, and has a special interest in Maria Montessori’s work, snorkeling, scuba diving, and saltwater aquariums. He is also a founding member of the Direct Primary Care Alliance.
