About

Dr. Margaret Okonkwo (pronounced Oh-konk-wa) is a board-certified pediatrician and Functional Medicine ADHD certified expert with over twenty years of experience. She grew up in the beach town of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She attended The College of William and Mary in historic Williamsburg, Virginia, and medical school at VCU’s Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. She ventured to Florida for residency at The University of Miami, where she completed her pediatrics training. Dr. Okonkwo worked in the cardiology department at Jackson Memorial Hospital as a house physician before embarking on her journey as a traveling doctor. After a few years as a traveling doctor, she returned to Miami to open her practice, Kidstown Pediatrics. She spent 16 years caring for her patients at Kidstown Pediatrics before closing the practice in 2020, with plans to pursue medical missions around the world and resume traveling doctor work. During the pandemic, she traveled extensively, working as a pediatrician in high‑need areas across the country. She also helped lay the groundwork for a foundation dedicated to serving children in rural communities. In that time, she deeply missed her patients in Miami and realized her passion for providing the personalized, compassionate care families truly deserve. She is thrilled to reconnect with families through her new practice, Okonkwo Care Pediatrics, offering empathetic support for every child’s unique health journey.
