Dr. Marcia K. Hauter, MD, is a family medicine physician who was born in Quincy, Illinois. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and completed her medical education at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois. Following medical school, Dr. Hauter and her husband completed their residency training at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she specialized in family medicine.

After completing her training, Dr. Hauter returned to her hometown of Lincoln, Illinois in 1991 and joined the family‑run practice originally started by her father. Over the years she has served in a variety of roles, including family medicine at the Family Medical Center, occupational medicine at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, and employee health at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. She also contributed to the Illinois Work Injury Resource Center and provided student health services at Illinois State University.

In July 2020 Dr. Hauter embraced the Direct Primary Care model by co‑founding Central Illinois Direct Care. She is dedicated to providing affordable, high‑quality primary care with direct, unlimited access to patients through phone, text, email, and video visits. Her approach emphasizes building long‑term relationships, preventive care, and eliminating the barriers of traditional insurance‑driven healthcare.
