Dr. Marc Heikens is a co‑founder and physician at Health Matters Direct Primary Care in San Diego, California. He believes that primary care should be personal, transparent, and relationship‑focused, which is why he helped build a Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice where patients pay a flat monthly fee for unlimited access, same‑day appointments, and direct communication via phone, email, or text. He emphasizes evidence‑based medicine and strives to spend ample time with each patient so they never feel like just a number.

Dr. Heikens earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, graduating in 2011. He completed a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. His clinical background spans both adult and pediatric primary care, allowing him to provide comprehensive, family‑centered services. He is committed to using the latest research to guide treatment plans and to empowering patients to take charge of their health.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Heikens enjoys playing soccer and baseball with his two sons, gardening, and grilling for his family.
