About

Dr. Julie Rietze is a Family Medicine physician who began practicing in Spokane in 2006 after completing her residency at the Spokane Teaching Health Center/Sacred Heart Medical Center. Over the past 17 years she worked in traditional insurance‑based primary care, witnessing a shift from patient‑centered relationships to a revenue‑driven system. The experience motivated her to seek a model that would restore the personal connection between doctor and patient.

In 2023 Dr. Rietze founded Lilac Direct Primary Care, embracing the Direct Primary Care (DPC) model to eliminate insurance middlemen, reduce wait times, and offer transparent, affordable care. She emphasizes direct communication—through phone, text, email, and video chat—extended visit times, and discounted prices for labs, medications, and imaging. Dr. Rietze believes this approach is the future of primary care and a step toward broader healthcare reform.
