Dr. John Paul Sosa is a native of suburban Detroit and is double board‑certified in Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. He earned his undergraduate degree in Anthropology‑Zoology from the University of Michigan and received his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. After completing a General Surgery residency at St. Joseph Mercy‑Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, MI, he pursued a Family Medicine residency at Providence Hospital in Southfield, MI, where he served as Chief Resident.
In 2009 Dr. Sosa moved to Florida and practiced comprehensive primary care with BayCare Medical Group in Westchase for over nine years. In 2017 he became one of the inaugural physicians certified by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and in 2019 he founded Elevant Health, Tampa’s first Direct Primary Care Lifestyle Medicine practice. His DPC model emphasizes high‑touch, high‑tech communication, same‑day or next‑day appointments, and a focus on preventive lifestyle interventions to keep patients healthy and reduce reliance on insurance‑driven care.
