Dr. John Littlefield has practiced medicine for almost 30 years in southeastern Massachusetts and brings his experience to The River Health and Wellness as Medical Director. He attended Oberlin College, received his MD from Northeast Ohio Medical University and completed an Emergency Medicine residency at Akron General Medical Center in Akron, OH, before returning home to Massachusetts in 1996. Board‑certified in Emergency Medicine, he transitioned to a Direct Primary Care model in 2022 and now practices family medicine within a Christ‑centered DPC setting. Dr. Littlefield believes in a holistic approach that integrates body, mind, and spirit, emphasizing personalized, relationship‑based care and medical freedom for his patients. He has led numerous medical mission teams to Honduras, Ecuador, China, and Senegal, reflecting his commitment to service and global health.
Outside of clinical work, Dr. Littlefield lives in Berkley with his wife, an artist and potter, and shares his home with alpacas, goats, chickens, and a cat. Their three adult children have pursued their own careers. He enjoys canoeing, kayaking, and exploring New England’s rivers, having solo‑paddled the 740‑mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail in 2020.
