John L Bender

John L. Bender, M.D., MBA, FAAFP, is a board‑certified family medicine physician and the senior partner and Chief Executive Officer of Miramont Family Medicine in Fort Collins, Colorado. He earned his undergraduate degree at Regis University in Denver and received his medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha in 1992. After completing a general surgery internship at the University of California‑Davis in 1993, Dr. Bender served as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Navy and later as an Army physician in Kosovo, where he directed an acute‑care field hospital. He is married to his childhood sweetheart Teresa and together they raise a large family of four children and seven grandchildren.

Dr. Bender’s practice is built on a Direct Primary Care (DPC) philosophy that emphasizes a patient‑centered medical home, low‑cost transparent pricing, and comprehensive, same‑day access to care. He believes that removing insurance middlemen allows him to spend more time with each patient, provide preventive and wellness services, and coordinate care across a wide range of specialties—including exercise, nutrition, women’s health, and chronic disease management. As an associate professor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and a preceptor for Rocky Vista University, he also mentors the next generation of primary‑care providers, reinforcing his commitment to high‑quality, affordable care for the community.
