Dr. S. (Sara) Gayle Hornberger, DO, is a family medicine physician who founded Midnight Sun Family Medicine, a Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice in Fairbanks, Alaska. She believes that the DPC model eliminates the bureaucracy of traditional insurance, allowing her to spend more time with patients, provide same‑day appointments, and offer transparent, membership‑based pricing. Dr. Hornberger earned her DO degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine after completing dual undergraduate degrees in Design (Eastern Washington University) and Biochemistry (University of Alaska Fairbanks). She completed a Transitional Year internship at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane and a family medicine residency at Southwest Washington in Vancouver. Prior to opening her own practice, she spent four years at the Interior Neighborhood Health Center, gaining extensive experience in community‑based primary care. She continues to serve the community through direct patient engagement and leadership roles in local health initiatives.
