Dr. Ernesto Matos Perez, MD grew up in Cuba and graduated from the Havana Institute of Health Science & Medicine in 1989. He completed his Family Practice residency in Havana in 1995 and worked in the mountains of Cuba with rural populations prior to a brief practice in Havana. He then moved to Belize where he operated clinics and did hospital practice in Belmopan and Punta Gorda, often providing care in jungle settings. While there, he was appointed as faculty at the American‑owned Grace School of Medicine in Belmopan.
