Family Medicine

About

Dr. Derek A. Farley is a board‑certified family physician with more than two decades of emergency and family medicine experience. Although he enjoys practicing emergency medicine, his ultimate goal is to build a direct primary care practice and work emergency medicine as a part‑time pursuit. Direct Primary Care is the preferred model for his practice due to the increased availability to the patient by phone, text, email, in‑office, or in‑home, a better doctor‑patient relationship, and the ability to save patients' money while delivering better care. Dr. Farley currently works part‑time at TotalCare ER in Denton and occasionally other TCER locations. He graduated from Ingleside High School in Ingleside, Texas, then attended Texas Lutheran College (now Texas Lutheran University) where he earned a B.S. in Biology with a pre‑medicine emphasis. He earned his D.O. degree in 1997 from the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. His family practice internship and residency were completed at Corpus Christi Medical Center – Bay Area, where he also served as Chief Resident (1999‑2000). He later became Medical Director of Plano Minor Emergency Center (2001‑2003). He and his wife, Robin (Dees) Farley, PA‑C, MPAS, have three children and previously operated Farley Family Medicine in Little Elm, Texas (2004‑2009).
