About
Dr. David Townsend, MD, is a native of Augusta, GA, and obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a double-major in biology and psychology. He pursued his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Townsend completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston‑Salem, NC, and was selected to be an Assistant Chief of Medicine following graduation from residency. He remained on the Internal Medicine faculty at Wake Forest University until 2013, when he and his growing family moved to Athens, GA to be closer to family. Dr. Townsend has a special interest in nutrition and fitness, and also loves sports and coaching youth sports.
