About
Dr. BouaSy Huneycutt was born in Laos. She is Hmong, one of several ethnic groups who lived in the mountains of Laos. At 7 years old, she and her family came to Albemarle, North Carolina in 1976 as refugees because of the Vietnam War. Dr. Huneycutt’s new life in America was made possible by the generosity and sponsorship of First Lutheran Church of Albemarle, NC. Dr. Huneycutt graduated with honors from NCSU with degrees in both biochemistry and chemistry. She attended Brody School of Medicine (formerly, ECU-SOM) in Greenville, NC, where she earned her Doctor of Medicine degree. After graduating from medical school, she completed four years of Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at the USF in Tampa, FL, and became board-certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics. She has over 18 years of experience as both an internist and pediatrician and has worked in several settings, which include community health centers, private practices, and the VA. Dr. Huneycutt is a compassionate doctor and enjoys caring for the whole family. She cares and listens to her patients and enjoys educating them about their own health. She believes in keeping the mind and body healthy through good nutrition, regular exercise, adequate rest, risk reduction, and prevention and proper management of chronic diseases through evidence-based medicine practices.
