Family Medicine

About

Dr. Andrew J. Anderson, DO, chose to start his private practice, KAYA HEALTH, in 2018 because he found that traditional medical practices did not allow enough time for him to develop the doctor‑patient relationship that offers better medical care and treats the whole person. He was drawn to Family Medicine for its unique opportunity to develop long‑term relationships with patients, emphasizing personalized, patient‑centered care within a Direct Primary Care model. Dr. Anderson grew up in Buena Vista, Virginia, earned the rank of Eagle Scout, and at age 19 embarked on a 24‑month mission trip to the Philippines, which inspired his ongoing annual medical mission trips to underserved communities. He enjoys an active lifestyle—kayaking, cycling, running, mountain biking, rock climbing, and hiking—and lives in the Lynchburg area with his wife, Heather, and their four children.
